The American School in Switzerland (TASIS), the first American boarding school in Europe, was founded in 1956 and its English campus was opened two decades later. The school is based in 43 acres of land, in the village of Torpe, in Surrey, 30 km from the centre of London. Some of its buildings date back to the 17th and 18th centuries, and it has many impressive facilities including a library containing 12,000 books, a 350 seat theatre, a computer centre equipped with Macs, tennis courts, basketball courts and its own baseball field. The school also has access to local amenities for swimming, gold, horse riding and water-ski.

Broad programme of activities: aerobics, fitness, ping-pong, softball, swimming, soccer, basketball, tennis, Frisbee, horse riding, water ski and golf
Possible London excursions include: London Eye, London Zoo, Tower of London, Madame Tussaud’s, London museums, West End Theatre outings, Emirates cup, a tour of Chelsea Stadium, Wimbledon Tennis tour, shopping excursions on Oxford Street or Knightsbridge… And excursions outside London include: theme parks, Bath and its Roman baths, Brighton Beach, Oxford, Stonehenge…
